Term
Lay-by is available on an 8-week term and must be paid in full by the due date and to take possession of the item. Extended 12-week term lay-by is available for lay-by purchases entered during October.
Collection date
Lay-bys must be collected within 8 weeks of the transaction date printed on the receipt or December 24th for 12-week lay-bys. At least 48 hours notice is required to collect your lay-by if the item is to be built.
Minimum Value
Lay-by is available on total transaction purchases of $200 or more.
Deposit
A 20% deposit of the total of the lay-by or $100, whichever is greater is required on each layby. For nonstandard stocked items or high-end items a higher percentage maybe required at the discretion of The Bike Place management.
Payments
Regular payments must be made (at least fortnightly) of at least 15% of the total value. You can opt for us to charge your credit card for payments.
Cancellation
Failure to make payments when they are due or collect lay-bys by the due date will be treated as cancellation of the lay-by by the customer. In these instances, the customer will be entitled to a store credit of the monies paid, less a termination fee of 20% or $100 whichever is greater. Customers will need to return in store with their original lay-by receipt in order to cancel and refund their lay-by.
Exclusions
Lay-by is not available for purchases made online, or on pre-paid cards and gift cards, or where specifically stated instore and in promotional materials.
Non-Modification
Individual items may not be added, removed or separated from a lay-by.
Identification
Photo ID must be produced if you request a replacement lay-by receipt, cancel a lay-by, or when you finalise and collect a layby where no receipt can be produced.
